15 Weeks: We're having a BOY!!!

We found out some exciting news today at our appointment.... we're having a boy! Jim and I are very excited and, although he doesn't realize it yet, Frank is too!

Now that I'm a few weeks into the second trimester I am happy to report that I am feeling a lot better.  Aside of a symptom here and there I'm starting to feel more like my old self and am getting some energy back.  I've included a photo from this week.  I'm not really sure what to call it as I haven't really acquired the acclaimed "baby bump" just yet, just looking like I've put on quite a few pounds!!  Hopefully this stage will come to an end shortly... I've been getting quite a few "did she gain a lot of weight or is she pregnant" looks as of late!

13 week ultrasound

We had another ultrasound done this morning as part of some genetic testing!  Jim and I are astounded by the change in our little one in just the past few weeks.  Our baby has already taken on some endearing names, but after this ultrasound he/she will be known to us as "big foot" (check out the size of the foot in the top left image)!  The baby was moving around quite a bit but never gave us a good angle to see if we could determine the gender (its pretty early on still so it wouldn't have been very accurate any way).  We'll have to wait until our 20 week ultrasound to find out for sure.  We have another check up in a few weeks, we'll keep you posted!

12 week update

I had another doctors appointment this week and, although we didn't have another ultrasound, we were elated that we had the opportunity to hear our baby's heartbeat.  My doctor was very pleased with the "very strong" heartbeat that ranged between 150 and 159 beats per minute.

As many of you have heard, I've had a bit of a rough first trimester with a lot of nausea and vomiting.  Luckily, as I'm nearing the end of the first trimester, I've begun to feel slightly better and have a bit more energy.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that by 14 weeks I'll be nausea/vomiting free.  Our next appointment is in about 4 weeks, we can't wait!
