28 weeks

Happy Holidays!  Sorry it's been so long since our last post.  We've been keeping busy with preparing for the holidays, a trip to New Orleans, preparing the nursery, and as always - trying to keep Frank in line.  We're slowly but surely getting the office turned into the nursery and our crib and dresser/changing table were delivered today :)  Plus, we've officially entered the 3rd trimester!!

In early December Jim joined me in New Orleans for a pharmacy conference.  I quickly learned that, with my heightened sense of smell and complete sobriety, Bourbon St. is no place for a pregnant lady!  Despite that, we had a great time catching up with some old friends!

With everything else going on in our lives, it seems like Christmas came and went in a flash.  Jim and I spent the holiday in Northern California visiting Jim's family and had a great time showing off our little Aidan.... he was quite active and on several occasions the family was able to feel a kick or two.  Unfortunately, we had to head home a little earlier than we would have liked so Jim and I could get back to work.  It's pretty crazy to think the next time we see Jim's side of the family we'll have Aidan with us!!   (PS- to those of you who are paying attention, we've officially decided on a name for our little guy... Aidan James!)

Next week the three of us head to MI for a Thanksgiving/Christmas/Birthday/Baby Shower celebration with the Myers clan.  Although we've been skyping from time to time, I'm pretty sure seeing my belly is going to spark a LOT of excitement for the first-time grandparents!!!  We can't wait for them to see me!

Later this week we have our 28 week Drs appointment along with my glucose tolerance test - not looking forward to that.  Let's just hope I pass so I don't have to repeat it in a few weeks.  As you can see in my belly pic below, Aidan and I continue to grow!  Our next ultrasound is in about a month, check back for some new photos in late January.

Jim and I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2012.

24 weeks

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!  Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  We hit the 24 week mark yesterday, here's the latest update....

Given my medical history and clotting disorder my pregnancy is considered high risk, so we had our first appointment with a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist today.  Part of the visit was another ultrasound with some 3D images!!  Do you think he looks more like a Myers or a McDade??

Our little man continues to measure bigger than average, as high as the 87th percentile for certain measurements and is estimated to weigh in at 1 lb 14 oz.  In fact, he's measuring as if he's a week ahead of schedule.... but the doctors are still sticking with the March 19th due date.  He's been very active lately and put on quite a dance routine during the ultrasound today (Jim claims that he's inherited that from him)!  We also learned that since he's head down right now the pokes and prods to my lower abdomen and bladder, which I thought were kicks, are probably more likely to be karate chops. :)

Here's a belly shot from today as well.  Bending over has started to become a little bit challenging... Before he knows it Jim's going to be tying my shoes for me! ;)

22 weeks

Back from vacation and still growing!  Jim and I spent last weekend working on our registry and trying to finalize plans for the nursery.  We're looking forward to the holidays and getting the chance to share our excitement with our families!

21 weeks

We're past the halfway mark!!  To celebrate Jim joined me in Anaheim for a conference and we spent a few extra days in Laguna Beach.  As you can see from the photos above we took Baby McDade on a gorgeous hike in the hills around Laguna Beach.  We really enjoyed our mini-vacation and while we were out of town my belly really started growing!

19 weeks

Jim and I can't believe we're nearly half-way through my pregnancy!!  We had our 19/20 week ultrasound this week and our little baby boy is a little bit bigger than average, he's in the 81st percentile for size right now!  Our little guy was being a bit camera shy this time around so we weren't able to get a great shot of his face.  But the two shots above were quite adorable to see in motion.  The first he is bringing his hand to his face, searching for his thumb.  The second he finally had success and we were able to watch him sucking his thumb for a few seconds... until he lost his thumb again!  Contrary to Jim's belief, he is not blowing bubbles!

17 weeks

17 weeks and counting...  It's been an exciting week for me because I've started to feel the baby moving! :)  Jim and I have started to plan the nursery and have been shopping around for cribs, car seats and strollers.  I still wouldn't say I've got a bump yet, but we're heading in the right direction.  Our next appointment is in 2 weeks, stay tuned for new ultrasound pics.

15 Weeks: We're having a BOY!!!

We found out some exciting news today at our appointment.... we're having a boy! Jim and I are very excited and, although he doesn't realize it yet, Frank is too!

Now that I'm a few weeks into the second trimester I am happy to report that I am feeling a lot better.  Aside of a symptom here and there I'm starting to feel more like my old self and am getting some energy back.  I've included a photo from this week.  I'm not really sure what to call it as I haven't really acquired the acclaimed "baby bump" just yet, just looking like I've put on quite a few pounds!!  Hopefully this stage will come to an end shortly... I've been getting quite a few "did she gain a lot of weight or is she pregnant" looks as of late!

13 week ultrasound

We had another ultrasound done this morning as part of some genetic testing!  Jim and I are astounded by the change in our little one in just the past few weeks.  Our baby has already taken on some endearing names, but after this ultrasound he/she will be known to us as "big foot" (check out the size of the foot in the top left image)!  The baby was moving around quite a bit but never gave us a good angle to see if we could determine the gender (its pretty early on still so it wouldn't have been very accurate any way).  We'll have to wait until our 20 week ultrasound to find out for sure.  We have another check up in a few weeks, we'll keep you posted!

12 week update

I had another doctors appointment this week and, although we didn't have another ultrasound, we were elated that we had the opportunity to hear our baby's heartbeat.  My doctor was very pleased with the "very strong" heartbeat that ranged between 150 and 159 beats per minute.

As many of you have heard, I've had a bit of a rough first trimester with a lot of nausea and vomiting.  Luckily, as I'm nearing the end of the first trimester, I've begun to feel slightly better and have a bit more energy.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that by 14 weeks I'll be nausea/vomiting free.  Our next appointment is in about 4 weeks, we can't wait!
